1. Hale & HeartyŠ
A hugely successful nurse led public health initiative hosted in local communities. Hale & Hearty enables older people to embrace the challenges of ageing in a way that is fun, informative, daring and encourages new friendships. Expanding significantly in 2009/2010 due to popular demand.
2.Fit 4 Life
A practical training course for those working or volunteering in a child care setting; the course explores how to promote fun activities, healthy eating, positive behaviour and child safety.
3.Big Wide World
A family learning course for people with mild to moderate learning difficulties and their parents/carers. Explores some of the changing roles for families and the choices available as adulthood approaches. Also addresses the serious public health information gaps for people with disabilities.
4.Health into Action
A practical course for people on incapacity benefit that raises confidence and identifies new talents so getting ready to try new work or volunteering opportunities. Mini work placements included.
5.Natural World
A practical course for people seeking work. Raising confidence and practical skills through working on a conservation project. Mini work placements included.
6.Ready, Steady, Care
A short taster course for people who would like to start working as a care assistant in an adult health or residential care setting. The course will explore ageing, increasing care needs and gaining practical knowledge and skills to raise confidence for the workplace.
7.Unlocking Talent
Two professional development days for tutors delivering LSC funded courses. Looking at ways to successfully engage people with learning difficulties and/or physical disabilities in the classroom setting.
